Concord is home to some of the best outdoor recreation adventures you can think of! Whether you’re interested in climbing mountains, floating down the river, hitting the snow-covered slopes, or tagging trout in the streams. Southern West Virginia is home to Outdoorsman like you!

Pipestem Resort, Camp Creek, and Bluestone State Parks offer a wide range of trail types and paths! Several other trail heads are just minutes away from campus! Including one of the Appalachian Trail Heads, Glenwood Park, Little Beaver State Park, and the Arrowhead Trails in Fayetteville!

Many Students find themselves interested in Hunting & Fishing but have never been given the opportunity to do so. CU is nothing but opportunities for students! The CU Sportsman Club is a great way to experience the outdoors. Students can take Hunter Safety Courses, Learn how to fish, and so much more! With the Bluestone Wildlife Management Area students have the opportunity to learn so much about being a great sportsman!

Only 30 minutes from Concord is Winterplace Ski Resort! Winterplace was voted on the best places to learn to ski in the southeast, but don’t let that fool you! There are several slopes that are for the more advance skiers or snowboarders. If you aren’t one for the slopes, Winterplace has you covered with snow tubing! With the largest tubing park in WV, CU Outdoor Rec programs makes several winter trips during the school year.

West Virginia is home to the largest ATV/UTV Trail systems in the nation! Hatfield and McCoy Trail system stretch out to be around 700 miles of pure fun! Only 30 Minutes from the Pocahontas Trail Head, students can rent ATV’s to be able to explore WV in a whole new adventure!

Ace Adventure offers several activities across Southern West Virginia. Only 10 minutes from Pipestem, CU students can ride the Zipline through several tree lines, all the way down to the Bluestone River.  Pipestem Resort also offers a blow-up water park on their lake, and a Unique Splash pad! Don’t forget that WV is home to some of the best white water rafting trips!

The Sportsman club is a student led club, that is supported through the office of outdoor recreation. Students in this club get together to share their hunting, fishing, or outdoor experiences.
