CONCORD DEPARTMENT OF HUMANITIES TO HOST OPEN POETRY READING IN MEMORY OF DR. DELILAH O’HAYNES

ATHENS, W.Va. – An open poetry reading will take place on Monday, October 9 at 5:00 PM in the President’s Room of Marsh Library in memory of former English Professor, Dr. Delilah O’Haynes.

Dr. O’Haynes passed away on August 18, 2023. She taught creative writing at Concord for 30 years. She was also instrumental in creating the arts magazine Reflexes, and co-founding the Sexual Assault Response Team, as well as the Women and Gender Studies group. Jon Bolt, Library Associate and former poetry student of Dr. O’Haynes, helped plan this open reading in her memory. Anyone is welcome to attend and read a poem by Dr. O’Haynes, a poem inspired by her, or a poem that she would like. Attendees are not required to read but are welcome to listen. Although Dr. O’Haynes did not want a memorial service, her students and fellow faculty wish to honor her through this event.

For details, please contact Michelle Gompf at mgompf@concord.edu or 304-384-6085.
