CONCORD UNIVERSITY TO HOLD RESEARCH FESTIVAL
ATHENS, WV – Concord University’s Department of Social Sciences is hosting the annual CU Research Festival on Friday, April 12 from 9:45 AM to 3 PM. This is an annual event to celebrate research conducted by students.
Research presentations will be held in the State Room of the Jean & Jerry L. Beasley Student Center from 9:45 AM-12 PM. Keynote speaker, Dr. Erik Augustson will speak from 12-1 PM, followed by a student poster session from 1-2:30 PM. There will also be a graduate school fair in the Ballroom from 12-3 PM.
Dr. Erik Augustson is the Vice President of Programs at the Foundation for a Smoke-Free World, responsible for management and oversight of the Foundation’s global grantmaking portfolio. Dr. Augustson has been a force in advancing population-level and public health interventions domestically and internationally. He played a pivotal role in the development and leadership of the large-scale U.S. Department of Health and Human Services program, Smokefree.gov, showcasing his innovative approaches to developing healthier communities.
Faculty from all departments and programs are encouraged to engage their students to participate in this opportunity to present what they have been working on, such as independent research, class projects, lab projects, term papers, Honors Projects, graduate projects and other activities utilizing research methodologies appropriate for their field. This is an excellent opportunity for students to showcase their talents and hard work.
