CONCORD UNIVERSITY’S DAY OF SERVICE SET FOR APRIL 13
ATHENS, WV – Concord University’s annual Day of Service will be held on Saturday, April 13. The focus of the event is to encourage the campus community and alumni to engage in service work to reflect the ‘Come to Learn, Go to Serve’ motto of Concord. We will have alumni, faculty, staff, and students engaging in service projects for the day.
Registration begins at the Bonner House at 8:30 AM. Service projects begin at 9 AM and end at 11 AM. Several service projects will be taking place on campus. If you can’t make it to campus we hope you will participate in service work in your community!
Some of the service projects will include painting paw prints on campus, beautifying Athens Town Park, and assembling graduate boxes for spring graduation.
Blake Farmer, Concord’s Director of Alumni and Donor Relations, says of the event, “Concord Day of Service is a great opportunity for alumni to reconnect with Concord while showing a unified effort in advancing the mission of the institution through service work.”
Also actively involved in the planning of this event is Bonner Program Director, Kathy Ball. “Many of our students engage in a variety of service activities during their time on campus and then become alumni who are active community members and engaged citizens. Having a day of service on campus is a nice way for our current students and our alumni to work together to continue the Concord tradition of service.”
To sign up to participate, please visit www.concord.edu/dayofservice.
Visiting alums are also invited to attend on-campus activities. Baseball and softball schedules can be found at cumountainlions.com, and tickets for “Concord Does Broadway: A Spring Cabaret” can be purchased online HERE.
CU Greek Life is participating in Concord’s Day of Service as part of Greek Week by partnering with the on-campus food pantry to collect and donate non-perishable food items and personal care items to our on-campus community, along with their own organized service projects.
If you have questions or need more information, please contact either Kathy Ball at bonner@concord.edu, 304-384-6009 or Blake Farmer at bfarmer@concord.edu, 304-384-6056.
