Smith, Nicole

Nicole joined Concord University as Public Relations Manager in August of 2023. She has extensive experience in marketing, graphic design, and public relations for both for profit businesses and non-profit organizations. Her background is largely in arts, entertainment, events and hospitality.

For five years, she was co-owner of Bradford Entertainment, a Minneapolis based production company, serving clients such as Patch Adams (The Gesundheit Institute), World Music Productions, Inc. for Les Ballets Africains, The Minnesota Twins, Mall of America, Ameriprise Financial, Billy Peterson (Steve Miller Band), and many other accomplished musicians, veteran filmmakers, and production professionals. She managed the marketing and operations side of the business housed in a 17,000 square foot facility. Nicole moved to Wilmington, North Carolina in 2011, where she served as Marketing and Operations Director for the Wilmington Symphony Orchestra for seven years.

Ms. Smith is a classically trained soprano. Her style ranges from jazz standards and popular songs, to classical arias and gospel music. Recognized for her musical versatility, Ms. Smith has performed in a variety of settings including choral ensembles CORO! (not just another chorus), under the direction of Dr. John-Scott Moir, sharing the stage with Barbara DeMaio Caprilli, former Prima Donna of The La Scala Opera in Milan; and Exultate!, including the recording “Joy to the World”, a collection of Christmas music, and excerpts from Handel’s Messiah. She also performed dinner cabaret aboard the Minnesota Zephyr, and as a soloist with the Wilmington Symphony Orchestra.

Her volunteer service includes participating as board member of the Cape Fear Jazz Society, the Wilmington Concert Association, and currently the Mercer County Convention & Visitors Bureau.
